My dream vacation would be to go to Bali, one of Indonesia’s 33 provinces. Bali is an island that can accommodate everyone’s interests because there are a huge variety of things to do. My ideal destination is known as the Island of the Gods which is what I envision paradise to look like.
I would love to go to Bali because of its natural esthetic appeal that seems to bring inner peace just by being in such an environment. It is well known for its most beautiful rice terrace in the world! There are also volcanoes on this island and one of them having erupted in 1963 killing thousands! (Maybe that’s not an appealing fact, but nevertheless it is an interesting one). It is still active and sometimes belches smoke. Awesome! In addition, there are great hiking trails that go up the volcanoes and into the forests.
One of the most renowned forests is the monkey forest, where are found sacred temples, stone bridges and of course, plenty of monkeys! (macaques actually). There are so many temples in Bali and they are often decorated during festivals which include yoga, dancing, music, preforming art, handcrafted art, and every other kind of art imaginable. The majority of the population practice Hindu Dharma, a religion consisting of a mix of Hinduism, Buddhism and ancestor worship. Their lifestyle seems fascinating and it makes me want to learn so much more about their culture, and live it too. I want to see first-hand what it would be like to be in such a different environment filled with things and customs that are currently so foreign to me.
It is also well known for its long history of healing therapies that we consider “alternative medicine” and “holistic therapies”. The yoga, massage sessions, energy healing and many other customs add to the reasons why I REALLY want to go experience this culture and learn from their healing methods. Bali’s one of the finest yoga retreats in the world and one of the best places to relax and find inner peace.
Not only would this trip be an incredible learning experience, it would also be so fun because of the many activities they offer. There are plenty of beaches, some of white sand, some of black sand where we could go scuba diving and see the abundant coral reefs and aquatic life. It is also a great place to learn how to surf! I’ve always wanted to learn! Its archeological, historical and cultural aspects in additions to the variety of activities Bali hosts make it undoubtedly my ideal vacation destination. I think that for this trip, I would bring along my best friend, Félicia because she is also very interested in the Asian cultures. I imagine that this experience would be quite life changing due to the fact that it would broaden my perspective on different cultures and allow me to meet new people with totally different backgrounds and beliefs.
